Use Facebook Fan Page To Promote Business

facebookEspecially for those who have some personal presence on Facebook already,  how do you transition on Facebook from personal to business?

Social Media audience is very sensitive animal. You have to treat it just right or they will walk away in a heartbeat.

One of the ways to ease them from personal profile atmosphere to one of a more business like, I suggest using Facebook Fan Page.

Here is also the link: http://www.facebook.com/advertising/?pages

Now, let’s talk about first why I suggest Fan Page at all.

Here is why:

1)      With Fan Pages you can have unlimited number of fans. Unlike with your profile page where you  are limited with 5000 friends

2)      Fan Pages offer status updates – that show up on friends’ wall which makes the page lot more viral than a Facebook Group page for example

3)      You can keep personal separate from business

After you create a Facebook Fan page, I would suggest that you invite your friends over and add a word or two about it in the invitation itself. That way they are getting heads up on what the page will be all about.

Now, the important thing to remember is that now you have a place where you’re can be more concentrated on business, and with people joining your Fan page they really are giving you a permission to share with them the business topics as well.

Even in the worst case, if they ONLY insist on being friends with you on a personal level and really don’t want to have anything to do with you business side, they will be free to unsubscribe from your Fan page and still keep your personal relationship in tact.

Which if you keep them all on personal profile will not be possible, and those who do not want to be bothered with business will feel spammed, and more then likely will leave your Facebook page for good or stop interacting at the minimum.

Some people opt to have multiple fan pages and groups depending on their products/service or interests.

This can be very helpful if you’re promoting various things and you really want to optimize your marketing.

The downfall is that you have to make sure ALL the pages are constantly updated with fresh and valuable content for your readers. But as long as the results outweigh the time put into it, it should be good set up.

As with anything else, moderation is the key and quality always wins over quantity.

What do you like/dislike about Facebook Fan pages?

3 Tips To Successful Social Media Automation

smm-logoRecently I have decided to implement yet another part to my social media automation and I have to admit that since then I have received lots of questions on it from my readers. So I decided to help clear up some fog.

I think it comes from the fear that it might loose the “human touch”.

The truth is that nothing really changes.

Social Media has been and will be based on personal relationships. You cannot be successful in social media and not be “present”.

However, at the same time, unless you want the business to own you, you have to figure out some ways to delegate/automate some of the things you do.

Now the key to success, as it is with everything in life, is in moderation. There are certain things you CAN and should delegate/automate to free you up to work on what you’re best at – and that should not be pure data entry.

So things like cleaning up your list and removing non-active users, spammers, whiners and such…as well as looking for new friends is something that can function just as well in the hands of your assistant.

The problem is created when these 3 rules are not respected, so use automation wisely.

Here are the 3 rules that should assure you success with using automation:

1)      You have to check on the Tweeps and you can’t leave them hanging – when you post your updates make sure you check on the peeps couple times during the day and make sure that if they responded you don’t just leave them without answer. That would be rude and completely counterproductive in process of creating relationships. Think about it, it would be just like if you asked a person you just met at the party a question and before they could even answer you just got up, left and never looked back. Not sure you would create any raving fans with that!!!

2)      There still has to be you – if you decided to implement automation in your marketing make sure that you are still the one who does the majority of socializing. You would not send your assistant to entertain your friends you got over at your house for BBQ while go out and do something else. Same principal applies here as well. People are following you because of YOU, your character, what you have to offer, and your personality. If you take that away from them you will surely lose their interest.

3)      Be selective – Social Media is most transparent way of marketing in existence today. That means you should not be hiding behind a logo, picture of somebody or something else, or behind an automation tool. People crave your attention. If you don’t give it to them, they will find it somewhere else. Delegate the parts that won’t take away from that relationship with your audience, parts that won’t dilute your persona. Your persona, is the only thing that makes your whole social world go round.

Watch Me Make A Perfect Cup Of Turkish Coffee

Right now, your probably asking what does coffee have to do with online marketing and Social Media?

Well a whole a lot for me. I work much better when I don’t have a headache and cup of coffee helps me get rid of it, believe it or not.  Of course I’m not a doctor and this not a medical advice, but it does help ME.

From time to time people who know me will ask me how I get rid of an occasional migraine or allergy headache and this is what I do.

BTW, that is me  in the video making the coffee…

Truly easy – here it is:

Make sure you tell me:

Ever tried Turkish coffee? What did you think?

FTC’s New Guidelines For Testemonials

FTC has publishes Final Guides Governing Endorsements, Testimonials and here is what they say:

Under the revised Guides, advertisements that feature a consumer and convey his or her experience with a product or service as typical when that is not the case will be required to clearly disclose the results that consumers can generally expect. In contrast to the 1980 version of the Guides – which allowed advertisers to describe unusual results in a testimonial as long as they included a disclaimer such as “results not typical” – the revised Guides no longer contain this safe harbor.

The revised Guides also add new examples to illustrate the long standing principle that “material connections” (sometimes payments or free products) between advertisers and endorsers – connections that consumers would not expect – must be disclosed. These examples address what constitutes an endorsement when the message is conveyed by bloggers or other “word-of-mouth” marketers. The revised Guides specify that while decisions will be reached on a case-by-case basis, the post of a blogger who receives cash or in-kind payment to review a product is considered an endorsement. Thus, bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service. Likewise, if a company refers in an advertisement to the findings of a research organization that conducted research sponsored by the company, the advertisement must disclose the connection between the advertiser and the research organization. And a paid endorsement – like any other advertisement – is deceptive if it makes false or misleading claims.

As you can see, avoiding to disclose the payment or free products exchanged for endorsements can be a sticky point. Apparently the penalty fees can be catastrophic monetary consequences, so make sure you read the guidelines completely and follow them fully.
