This is what street racing in my hometown Osijek, Croatia looks like these days. We did not have anything like that that I can remember back in 70s-80s . 90s were spent fighting the stupid war, so this is a fairly new hobby for most people there.

I find it kinda fun to see what your “old” looks like now.

A guest post by: Marjorie Dearmont from: www.MarjorieDearmont.com

I’ve learned that many people heard that affirmations were effective and wrote out pages of affirmations and read them daily without success.

Others would justify what they wanted and thereby focused more on the problem than the solution. Others carefully constructed a perfect script of their creation.

Yet, still many didn’t create the life they wanted.

It’s about The Law of Attraction.

It seems like everyone is talking about, writing about, or teaching about the Law of Attraction these days. After the movies “What The Bleep Do We Know” in 2004 and then “The Secret” in 2006 many people were excited about learning to take more control over what happened to them and how to create the life they wanted.

I have been teaching seminars about this subject for 23 years and it was fun to have people in my classes that were eager to learn about this. And I did notice that there were misconceptions and that I had ‘The Secret Behind “The Secret”’.

Since the classes I teach utilize meditation, I was aware that the difference between what we say we want at the objective level and what we believe we can have at the subjective level is the gap that prevents the creation. If the part of us that focuses isn’t in alignment with the inner beliefs about ourselves, we have a resistance, like a static, that prevents the accomplishment.

There are numerous ways to overcome this resistance. The easiest way is “mental rehearsal”, visualizing the completed creation while at the meditative state. The inner consciousness doesn’t know the difference between a real and an imagined event, so this technique creates the inner belief that this has already been created and removes the unbelief, and then the imagined creation moves into physical manifestation.

Top 7 Things To Do Before You Start a Business Online

Two days ago I got an email from one of my readers asking me for help. We’ll call her Ms. M.  She wants to start a business online  but feels very overwhelmed with all the products thrown at her to buy, and it’s causing her in the end not to trust anybody – not a big news, right?

Knowing that this is a very common thing for newbies coming online, I decide to share my thoughts on this with all of you.

First of all, if this sounds like you, don’t feel bad, most people experience being confused and overwhelmed with everything being offered online and the whole online business circus.

You can see that there are so many possibilities and ways to make money, and then there are so many more that you cannot even see from where you sit today.

So here are 7 things to consider prior to wiping out your wallet and start punching your credit card numbers on the internet in hopes of starting a business online:

1)   The first thing to do is to find out what you can use from knowledge and experience you have so far that you can monetize online.

For example: if you’ve spent years in vet’s office and that is your passion, then maybe an angle in pet niche would work for you, if you’ve worked in high profile advertising firm, then maybe consulting on the subject etc….

If you are sick and tired of industry you’ve been in but have a hobby you have huge passion for – go for that.

I would suggest writing down 3-5 topics you’ have passion for and working you way through to pint point which one would you be most excited about and would work on it for years to come even if you were not making any money at it.

When you find that one, then you know you will be able to stick to doing what you need to do in order to get where you’re going, otherwise, at first sign of hard times – and there will be hard times, you will quit. (if you think about it, it’s not any different then choosing a person you’re going to be with for a very long time)

2)   Put down on the paper how you really want your business to look like 2-3 years from now.

For example: if you have experience in sales and you’re really good in prospecting and selling, then maybe building an organization in MLM is for you, maybe you’d like to offer coaching and consulting on the topic of your expertise, maybe you’d like to do speaking engagements and so on.

If on the other hand you despise selling to your friends and family, MLM meetings, and interacting with people live, then maybe blogging, videos, articles and such are a better bet.

3)   Look for people you can connect with who are already successful in that. And social media makes it a super possible thing today.

Find them on Facebook, Twitter…check out their personality a bit, check out how they correspond with their audience.

Find their site/blog. See how much value they offer to people who are willing to commit their time to keep coming and reading what it’s being shared on the site. Comment on their post, come back and comment again, do that for a period of time and do it in a respectful way. Not just posting “great post” “great idea” but something meaningful and something that the blog owner would see as a good conversations starter. From there, use it to foster a relationship.

4)   Choose your mentor wisely. I wrote a post about my experience with mentors when I first started and you can find it here: (HINT: the more successful mentor does NOT necessarily equal success) http://www.ultimatemarketingonline.com/blog/mentors.

5) Make sure you’re expectations of your new business match the reality. Too many people have very unrealistic expectations.

Can you make money? – YES…

Can you make money fast? – YES…

if you know the right steps!- Social Media Marketing Manifesto might be a good place to start ;-)

Only very few know the right steps and have success online. Remember, 99% of people fail in online business.

Just because you just spent $2,000-3,000 on a course that promises it’s all you’ll ever need to be successful with your online business, don’t think it really is. Vast majority of courses offer great value, but they are very, very rarely “all you’ll ever need”.

6)   Know what your budget is. Notice I did not say you have to have a budget. And you don’t, but it will take a bit of a time to comb through the free stuff and make some sense enough to start putting it all together. Thanks to social media, marketing does not have to cost you a dime, but learning how to properly use social media will – either in $$ or in time.

7)   Be ready to pay the price. The “price” means: time, money, resources, patience – or in plain English: blood, sweat, and tears. Yes, the fruits of the labor are very, very sweet, sexy, and God knows – profitable, but they don’t happen over night and don’t come free – ever. All right, maybe when you hit a lottery or your cousin is a super internet freak ;-)

I paid the price for my success online in few different ways. But while others may have few extra memories of great time partying out on town, I have memories of what my checking account looked like last time I glanced over it, what it feels like to take time off ANY time my heart desires, and most importantly to truly see my son grow and be there with him and for him and THAT I would not trade for the world! ;-)

So if you still want to do this, sit down, grab your favorite juice or a glass of fresh water, take a pen and a paper and spend few minutes really focusing on each of the points I outlined above and write down your thoughts, fears, expectations, questions, etc…just do a bit of a brainstorming.

Only when you think you’re pretty clear on those 7 points above, and you feel like you have guts to go forward, make a promise to yourself and then do what ever it takes (within limits of moral and legal, or course!) to fulfill that promise.

See you at the top!

To YOUR ultimate success.

Would you add anything?

Review: Nurturing Networker

Few days ago Sara Pencil Bluemenfield has sent me an email in regards to doing a review for her new book she just launched “Networking Nurturer” at www.NurturingNetworker.com. I was happy to do it, and here is my review:

What is “Networking Nurturer” book about?

“This book is about being a Nurturing Networker. As a Nurturing Networker, you recognize that everyone is in a different place in their business and their life. You nourish them by promoting them to others. You support them by providing resources and ideas. You encourage them by inspiring them with confidence and courage. You genuinely care about the whole person: their business, their family, their hobbies, their dreams. It shows in your actions.”

And Sara, in her book, shows you exactly how to do just that.

Sara herself is no stranger to successful networking. In 2005 her and her husband decided to start their own greeting card business and got heavily involved in networking.

One really interesting side of her book is that all the guest experts authors who contributed, there were 7  including me, Sara met through networking, and in the book itself she has links to each expert’s website – you’re right, to promotemore networking.

The panel of guest expert authors who contributed to her Nurturing Networker book includes:

  1. Aaron Chapa, DC (http://www.draaronchapa.com) is a chiropractor and clinical nutritionist in Houston.
  2. Donna Fisher, CSP (http://www.donnafisher.com) is an entrepreneur at heart.
  3. Jason Jacobsohn, MBA is well known in the Chicago area as a “connector” and advocate for entrepreneurs who want to grow and maintain their success.
  4. Maruxa Murphy, MA, is passionate about empowering Mama CEOstm to live their BEST life in the office, home, and community.
  5. Carrie Wilkerson, a.k.a. The Barefoot Executive ™http://www.barefootexecutive.com) used her networking skills and “massive action to completion”philosophy to go from being unknown to being Internet Marketer of the Year in about 18 months time.
  6. and myself – The Social Media Vixen ;-)

what I liked the most about this book is that it’s not just the facts, but it’s filled with real life networking stories, which  makes for not just useful but also a very interesting read with many “nurturing networking” examples and tips to go along with it.

And of course, each of guest expert authors brought in different flavors on networking from their own angles.

Here are just few examples:

Donna is all about empowering women in networking. She coaches women on how to network not for the sake of networking but for a great good.

Maruxa talks about “taming mental chaos” and a secret power-tip on journaling. It’s amazing what weird places you’ll get your best ideas at (I assure you, I can attest to that!!!!)

Jason talks about power-connectors that have a huge sphere of influence and can really boost your presence in your industry. The trick is to identify them and connect with them. Jason shares few great tips on how to do that.

Carrie shares her secrets on creating ‘forever-relationships’ as well as how to draw 6-7 figure income as a results of those.

Aaron? Listen to this:

“Do you know that what you eat at a networking event, and even up to three days prior to the event, can affect your behavior? Now that is something worth taking a note of. What you eat can make you tired, irritable, cloud your memory, and even make you smell bad—all things that are not helpful if you want to be a Nurturing Networker.”

I don’t know about you, but I surely wanted to know what those are so I can avoid them…You will be shocked at what those are – I was.

And of course I share the scoop on social media in networking. I actually share a chapter, “Understanding the Psychology of Social Media Marketing”  from my latest self-study e-course “Social Media Marketing Manifesto” which reveals a shocking truth on how you too can successfully use social media to easily build profitable relationships and networking with a much larger, and more diverse, audience online.

The book itself goes for only $27, but I think that ideas and tips outlined in there are worth many times over.

Check out Sara’s “Nurturing Networker”. I believe you’ll find it worthy of being added to your e-library.

Postcard applications can be cute and people posting them on your wall don’t have bad intentions – most of them.

However, when that gets to be 5-6 of posts right after each other by a same person (too bad I deleted those yesterday before I decided to write this post I would have included images) and you have almost 5000 people to babysit on your pages, like in my case, that gets to be a bit annoying.

Now, yesterday I actually deleted bunch of people who I label as “repeat offenders”, because multiple posts thought the day or for days in a row in my eyes is a spam. When I visited their profiles, guess what? That is all they had on there. Tens and tens for postcards they’re sharing on their walls and then adding “friends” and posting those on friends’ profiles as well.

Not my cup of tea.

There are MORE then plenty of people on the internet wanting to be a part of your profiles who are wiling to play nicely. So there is NO need in my eyes to have to put up with those few who are ruining it for all others.

So that would be one strategy ;-) .

For those who are just trying to be thoughtful, nice, or simply do not know what else to post or how else to get your attention, you might want to decide to keep them as friends but block the actual postcard application.

Here is how you can accomplish that:

Locate the application – look for the red circle with arrows around it on my image above.  In this case because it was a “Blessings” application, it says “Blessings”, click on it and it will take you to Blessing’s page.

Where it says “Remove Block from this application” it will say “Block this application” (I have already done it on mine that’s why it’s asking if I wanted to remove mine)

Click on it, and you’re not going to be getting more of those.

Now, you still need to go back to your page and click on the “remove” button that shows on the right of that post if you actually want to remove it from your wall. But blocking the application should block all the new ones trying to be posted on your pages.

You have to do this for all applications showing up on your pages, but the good thing is, once you do that, you should be “postcard free”.

Do you like it? Not bad, ha? Know of another way of doing it, let me know…

Get more free targeted traffic to your site II

In yesterday’s post I wrote about a strategy to have high rank blog/site link back to you within 24-48 hours.

Today I want to share with you 7 more very powerful strategies that most marketers overlook or simply misunderstand very often.

Actually, I think it’s that they’re misunderstanding the importance of it, yet I don’t find it surprising…most ‘gurus’ just simply forgot to mention the whole story.

When you’re first starting out with your site, and your rank is low, you have to implements some strategies that will actually work and move your site in Google’s rankings.

Here are 8 easy strategies you can start implementing TODAY:

1)      have a high rank blog/site link up to you  - start here: http://bit.ly/6GgH9R

2)      ask another blog owner to trade links with you, you might want to show some love towards their blog first before you ask for a trade by commenting ;-)

3)      make a list of blogs/sites you can comment on and write 5 comments a day for 30 days. Make sure the blogs are in your niche, they are good quality blogs, you don’t need to include your URL in the actual comment so that the blog owner does not feel spammed. As you are entering the info to comment most will ask for your website – that is enough for you ;-) . Also, make sure your comments are not just “nice post” kind but they actually have substance and might even provoke a conversation with a blog owner or another person commenting (you never know who is going to offer a helping hand or become your next customer)

4)      the above strategy works just as well on forums in your niche

5)      make sure all your social media profiles are linking back to your site: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.

6)      Articles – great marketing strategy for more then one reason. They give you backlinks, they position you as an expert, and they drive free already pre-qualified traffic to your site

7)      Guest posts – write a guest post or post on another bloggers blog. Another great way to get backlinks and traffic not to mention a great way to build a relationship with a blog owner. Cherish those, if nurtured right, they could turn into very profitable joint ventures down the road.

8)      And of course, never forget the bookmarking sites

Did I miss any? Let me know below…
