Did you know that good ole fashioned email was actually developed some 40 yrs ago BEFORE the internet and BEFORE the web?!
I recently applied to be in a feedback group for GoogleWave and just yesterday late I received an email saying I have been accepted. I got a link to check out some videos and actually use GoogleWave myself – pretty neat, I must say.
So couple of years ago, Google set out to figure out what would the email look like if it was invented today? What a brilliant questions, isn’t it?
That’s how GoogleWave has come about.
Here are some features I think are super cool:
- you can have email and text messaging as part of a one message
- playback previous parts of the message
- drag and drop new people to add to conversation
- toggle between public and private replies
- restrict access throughout out conversations for ea participant
- add formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more by dragging
- extract only parts of the message into another msg
to name the few….
Google wave also lets you do many group collaborations like:
- organizing events
- group projects
- meeting notes
- brainstorming
- interactive games
I was pretty impressed….I think it’s going to be a cool feature, but wishing there was a privacy setting that controls the entire groups and conversations rather than only parts which also has to be set manually each time…I’ll definitely submit that my review and we’ll see what happens
To see the full demo see the video below, it’ a bit long but really only the first part of it is a demo for how to use and that lasts only few minutes…
To be a part of the feedback audience for GoogleWave, follow the link below to apply:

Do you think you’ll see a reason to use it?
