Promote Your Page TooMore and more people are rushing over to Facebook every day trying to advertise their business there. But most of them have a misconception that the success will come by simply them creating a fan page and then inviting bunch of people over.

It does not work that way; hence a huge Facebook graveyard.

In the course of the next few days I will explain in greater detail what the 7 biggest sins of Facebook are and how to avoid them.

Today, let’s start with a creating a fan page itself.

If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you’ve heard me say, that market and demands of the market have drastically changed over the last few years especially the last 12 months or so.

The time has come when people do not want to deal with big companies any more, logos, pictures…and definitely not the “shade” – Facebook’s default image. People want to know who you are, who is standing behind the product/service. What you look like, what kind of a person you are….and so on…

Believe me, the phrase “picture is word a thousand words” is today more valuable in Facebook cash then ever before.

But the truth is, people miss it every day.

And even when they put their pictures up, they tend to make costly mistakes. Here is what to avoid when posting your fan page profile picture:

  • picture with no shirt on – fan page is supposed to be professional, party time is for private eyes and friends only
  • picture in a sexy pose – keep it to yourself, unless that is your niche, it will repel your would be fans
  • picture with a drink – fan page is supposed to be professional, party time is for private eyes and friends only
  • picture too dark and people can not recognize your face – people need to recognized you when you walk down the street or hang at your favorite restaurant
  • picture while kissing your significant other – get a room! Again, fan page needs to be somewhat professional
  • picture of your dog – is that who your fans need to buy your product/service from? not likely they will be compelled
  • picture of the product – people want to deal with people, not things
  • abstract picture – same here
  • picture of another person – would you prefer they built a relationship with that person?
  • a group picture – which one is you???

Facebook is as much fun as it is a goldmine, if handled properly.

It’s not a brain surgery, you are correct, so be aware that little things can make a big difference.

What Facebook Fan Page profile picture type do you find the most repelling?
