I think Twitter is going to step up and take things a lot further. I also believe, however, that FB and all the other Social Media site on line are a good place to have some kind of profile and to keep yourself in the mix because you're showing you care about reaching out and providing what information you have to people around you.

Absolutely correct. You are right about the privacy thing but I also think that one of Facebook's uniqueness comes from the fact that it moves slower and allows members to have a greater transparency - through pictures, videos and such... Twitter already has some of that - sorta, but I wonder how much of that Twitter will take a step further if at all...They've been adding bunch of diff. apps lately, so I guess will see. PS Gary V. rules..I just finished reading his CRUSH IT - I think every one beginning in IM needs to read it.

Facebook was generally a private closed network of friends/family and the popularity of twitter was because of public tweets and searchability (now in Google search). Now FB is changing their privacy settings so that more things are public. I think that is the trend for the future. I should be able to link to specific FB posts from Twitter, etc.

Also I think people should focus on building a community before they start to monetize (the Gary Vaynerchuk approach). With a community you are in a much better position to obtain JVs, sponsors, advertisers, etc.
