One thing is for sure: article marketing works – if done right.
Articles are truly a heart of organic placements and will be generating traffic for a long time.
Internet marketing evolves and changes daily so do the rules of the game. In order to get the most out of your article marketing strategies, here are few tips to bear in mind.
When a good keyword is just NOT enough
1) There was a point in time when the best rule for writing marketing articles was to come up with one good keyword and write your content around it.
Those days are gone.
Today, for articles to be picked up and liked by search engines need to include a handful of related keywords, i.e. Mercedes Benz parts, Mercedes Benz accessories, Mercedes Benz aftermarket parts…etc…
When duplicate content is OK
2) More and more article directories
check for the duplicate content. So if you have a great marketing article should you only post it to one Web 2.0 property and will that be enough to create a significant impact? Otherwise, can you really afford to spend tens of hours a week recreating versions of a great article that in the end after 4-5 rewrites may not be as good at they were originally?
Rigorous testing proves that you might consider posting your articles to several top articles directories first, prior to posting them anywhere else. AND to post them manually. Then post them to your blog. And only after that, maybe to other article sites which do not scan the net for duplicates of your work.
When I first started creating my blueprint for writing articles I was dizzy all the time from worries about posting articles on my blog and the bunch of article sites, but it turned out that there really is no harm in posting great content on Web 2.0 properties and than linking it to the original place – your blog. So that is what I’ve been doing ever since and it has generated for me huge number of targeted leads and create a great presence in the marketplace.
Promote the promoter
3) Once you have the articles written don’t consider your work done. Believe it or not, in order to generate traffic with article marketing you have to “promote the promoter”. So make sure you get all the URLs of the posted articles bookmarked to social bookmarking sites as soon as possible and increase their visibility.
As I mentioned earlier, article marketing can be very powerful. I always enjoyed writing, so I started off my success in online marketing with writing articles. It did take a while, but after I planted bunch all over the net, with time it started to move like an avalanche.
This type of marketing does not have many flaws, but the biggest one for me was time. It took a quite bit of time to post them all and then go back and bookmarked them all.
When you first start and you’re on the limited or non-existent budget, there is not much else you can do. But as soon as you can you should try to “delegate” that work to a piece of a handy tool.
Not only that it will post your articles to your blog, then to the numerous article sites, then it will notify bunch of the bookmarking sites for your automatically, but it will also post your videos to long list of video sites in several different versions to really maximize your exposure.

Aleksandra,
I want to make sure I understand this. Are you saying this:
a. Post first to the top article sites
b. Then post to blog
d. Then link the blog post to the social bookmarking sites?
Jean, I would post them to article sites first, however I would link few key keywords to your post on the blog or even other posts. Also, if the site allows you, post 3/4 of an article and the rest they have to come and view on your blog. And yes, I would do it that way.

Great tip. This is exactly where I am – writing articles and posting them like the squirrel deposits nuts all over the place.
